I'm a big fan of comics and Non-Sequitur is one of my favorites! I am not a big fan of political BS and feel none of the current parties really speak to the average American.
Wiley Miller, without picking sides, has a wonderful sense of humor when diving into the political arena. Here's his Sunday's take on things... And, for the record, I'm siding with Mrs. Almighty :-D

Throughout history, the Daisy flower has been celebrated for its simple beauty… Its meanings are always positive and optimistic in nature – just like the sunny disposition of my little doggy, Daisy. With her in mind, I want to share the little things that I see, or do, or come across that make me smile, give me a good laugh, pique my interest or just make me go "hmmmm."

Foggy Friday
This may look like a country road, but in reality, it isn't far from my home and is still in city limits.
Crazy, heavy fog rolled in around 7:30 am and hung in there for a while. The afternoon was bright and sunny. I love the changes in weather Colorado brings every day :-)

Denver Botanic Gardens
I was able to get a few shots off in between performing my duties as "photographer's assistant." I find it intriguing to watch the concentration my daughter gives to her photography.
Path through the Tropical Conservatory - the humidity felt great! |

Saturday Night in the Fort
Equinox Brewing is just a 1/2 block off Old Town Square.
Every Friday and Saturday evening, they have live music from 6 - 8 pm.
This is perfect timing...
a little music, a little brew, at home, in bed by 9 :-)
The music of Gypsy Moon was on tap (pun intended) for last night.
I loved the mandolin and their version of "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown!"

Friday Night in the Fort
Friday Nights always bring a crowd to Old Town Fort Collins. Last night, a brass band at the Square's stage filled the evening with music. The stage is conveniently located right outside Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream :-)
Not too far away, we found hula hoopers doing their thing. With a gold box over his head, we decided the owner of the teenage male legs wanted to remain anonymous...

September Birthstone: Sapphire
"A maiden born when autumn leaves
Are rustling in September's breeze,
A Sapphire on her brow should bind;
To bring her joy and peace of mind."
Are rustling in September's breeze,
A Sapphire on her brow should bind;
To bring her joy and peace of mind."
I've known a few couples who opted for sapphires over diamonds for their engagement rings. Besides the beautiful color, maybe the meaning behind the sapphire is what they were trying to convey: constancy, truth, sincerity.

Homecoming Game
Unfortunately, the Lambkins lost to the Arapahoe Warriors...
On the bright side, the band looked and sounded great plus
all the cheer stunts were successfully and safely completed
(which is my priority - no broken noses!).
A Super Fan :-) |

FCHS Homecoming Assembly
The FCHS Cheerleaders getting the assembly started. Bee is front, second from right. |
This is the FCHS Step Team I thought they were cool! |
This is the JV Cheer Squad. I'm always sitting on the wrong side of the gym to photo Brianne... |
Successful Stunt. Brianne is the back spot (look for black knee brace). |

September Birth Flower: Aster
The lovely Aster comes in a variety of, what I like to call, "girlie" colors... Red, Pink, White, Lilac, and Mauve.
During the Victorian Era, sending your beloved asters asked them to take care of themselves for you... It currently symbolizes Love, Faith, Wisdom and Valor. I think this would be the perfect bouquet to send to anyone in the military.

September Poetry
September
How lovely the world is
In September
Warm air
Leaves just turning gold
Summer still lingering
Autumn coming nearer
It is a time of bittersweet endings
And bittersweet beginnings
It seems that every September
The world takes a deep breath
Shakes off the August heat
Prepares for a long winter
Knowing no one will feel this way again
Until next
September.

Summer still lingering
Autumn coming nearer
It is a time of bittersweet endings
And bittersweet beginnings
It seems that every September
The world takes a deep breath
Shakes off the August heat
Prepares for a long winter
Knowing no one will feel this way again
Until next
September.

Tour de Fat
This was taken early - before the parade got underway. They guy in black and white was sporting one of those wind spinners on his head... Look closely :-)

Tour de Fat 2012
And we're off... The Fort Collins Bike Co-op receives the profits from the merchandise tent. Doug intended to haul just coolers and signs, but Brianne hitched a ride as well :-D |

Better Than Bacon
Better Than Bacon is a rock 'n roll band with an older rhythm and great electric guitar... Their calendar is pretty full around northern Colorado.
They were playing at a neighborhood block party last night... Perfect weather, entertaining folks, yummy BBQ, body-moving tunes. Apparently, it was such a successful party that the police were called - someone in the next neighborhood complained about the noise and it was only 8:45 pm. Some people...
Anyway, most of us "older" folks felt pretty proud of ourselves since it had been well over 20 years since we had been causing a big enough ruckus to have the police arrive :-)
