42nd Street

"We're in the money.
Come on, my honey.
Let's spend it, lend it,
Send it rolling around!"

"You spend your dough for.
Bouquets that grow for.
All those cute and cunning,
young and beautiful dames."

We went and saw 42nd Street at the
Carousel Dinner Theatre last night.
Got to spend time with friends and be entertained!

Farm Boy Shinnanigans

At a Montana High School, a few male students decided to pull a prank...

They let three goats loose inside the school;
however, before doing so,
they painted  numbers on them:
1, 2 and 4.

School administrators spent most of the day looking for #3.

Never underestimate the innovativeness of the
American Farm Boy!

My girlie friend, Jan, shared this with me.
She was particularly fond of it as
she grew up on a farm on the CO/KS/NE border,
which, her family still operates.

And I thought farming would be nothing but work...

Murky Monday

Wet and chilly here today,
so I thought some sunny flowers would perk
me and everyone else up  :-)

Have a great Monday!!

Kappa Delta

Sorority Soliloquy

I’ve heard it said a sorority
Is a waste of time; but I know better…
For I have seen the love and walked
In the splendor of sisterhood…
I’ve heard it said that a sorority
Is sad; I can’t agree…
I’ve heard it said that a sorority
Is a dull, selfish place; It can’t be true…
I’ve seen the affection, watched it
Fill my heart, the very air…
And I have learned the Creed
Polished and spotless from end to end
And I’ve watched the sorority’s
Devotion drape each and every active
And pledge to look like nature’s
Freshly-granted love nourished for growth…
I’ve heard it said that a sorority is
Harmful, but they are wrong…
For I know my sisters…watched them
Strive to save a cause, spend of themselves…
And I’ve watched them hope, dream,
And aspire, side by side…
I’ve heard them say these things,
But I would disagree…
Because for every shadow I have
Seen a hundred rays of light…
For every plaintive note I’ve
Heard the symphony of joy…
For every penny-weight of bad,
I’ve found a ton of good…
Good in nature, in people, in my sorority…
I’m thankful I belong.

Phi Epsilon of Kappa Delta

My Pin!!

I am really excited to be attending the festivities surrounding
CSU's Phi Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Delta this weekend!

With only a few short interim breaks, they have been
a big part of CSU's Greek Life for 95 years.
The current house was built in the 1960's
and has a very homey and comfortable feel to it.
I lived there in the mid-1980's :-)

I can't wait to see who shows up for the brunch today!

Observations from my beach chair...

Yoga Class
Count me out.
I take relaxing to new heights when I'm on the beach.
Not to mention what we overheard a kid say (he was maybe 12):
"They look constipated."
After I quit laughing and choking on my umbrella drink,
I took a closer look and decided he was right...

Speedos
These should be illegal unless you are a competitive swimmer
and are at practice or a meet.  Period.
I cannot drink enough umbrella drinks to make those look good.
Board shorts are sexy - trust me!!

Thong Fakers
If you do not have the nerve to purchase and wear a real thong bikini,
tuning your regular swimsuit bottom into one is not the way to go.
It's not flattering on the skinniest/firmest behind
and, frankly just looks uncomfortable.

Quick-Change Bikini
Being an up-tight American, I have never had the nerve to go topless;
however, others doing so has never bothered me.
As my son (then approximately 15) wisely noted:
"Those that should, don't, and those that shouldn't, do."

This older couple behind me had been swimming and
came back to their seats.
I had previously taken note of her because I thought she was
pretty fit for her age - guessing 60 - and had an amazing tan
(made obvious when she was sunbathing topless).
While I laid on my stomach and read,
she completely changed out of one bikini and into another one.

Huh?!?!
It took me a while to process that I had actually seen this...
Then I had to process how I felt about it...
Surprised??  Shocked??  - Duh!  Remember - uptight American.
Offended??  Hmmm...  Not so much.

I'm more open-minded than I thought :-)
Except when it comes to speedos and thong fakers...

A Fish Story

Belatedly, the three sharks who had been admiring the young mermaid,
realized she had been accompanied by the sea hag...
Sensing the danger, they politely remarked on the beauty of the mermaid
and fled for their lives...

This is a photo of a baby manatee eating lettuce
at the Dolphin Discovery in Puerto Aventuras.
Mama is just below and to the left.

This guy was keeping me company one morning.
He was very striking against the
bright colors of the building.

Buenas Cosas de Spring Break

Puerto Aventuras, Mexico

The horizontal stripes on these trees really caught my attention!
They are located just outside a little restaurant in the heart
of the village - Cafe Ole International.
It is owned by a couple from Kansas
who moved down 20 years ago.
Fun atmosphere, good food, GREAT pies - produces food coma...

Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you
,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,

The rains fall soft upon your fields,
 and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

The Daisy Way will be taking a couple of weeks' hiatus.  My calendar appears to be a tad frenzied with a few too many things to do, people to see, and places to go...

All Hail Alexander Graham Bell!

This is exactly what my phone looked like as a teenager :-)
Although it was retired when I dropped our land line, I still have it.
Such conversations it heard over the years!
My sister had that funky-looking doughnut shaped one...

Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone on
March 7, 1876.

Love it or hate it; can't live without it...
I probably wouldn't be typing away and sharing trivia without that patent
as every communication invention leads to the next...

Day of Rest

My Grandma used to have a chore for everyday.  I can't remember the order, but ironing, mending, washing, etc. each had a specific day - I still have embroidered tea towels with cute kittens accomplishing their daily housework. Except for going to church, Sunday was a day of rest.

I'd likely get a lot more done if I followed that plan, but, once again, Sunday finds me trying to play catch-up for what I procrastinated on the rest of the week.  As I glance around the house and think to myself, "OMG - where do I start?"  I realize I should have listened to Grandma...

However, today, I'm siding with Erma Bombeck:
"My theory on housework is, if the item doesn't multiply, smell, catch fire, or block the refrigerator door, let it be.  No one else cares.  Why should you?"

Lady Lambkins

Despite their sweet mascot, the girls have been playing some mean basketball!

In a nail-biting game last night, the team made their way into the Colorado 5A semi-finals with a 45-44 victory.  This is the first time in FCHS history that the girls have made it into the Final Four.

GO LAMBKINS!

March 4th

Today in History...

1789
The Constitution of the United States of America went into effect.

This coincides nicely with Hug-A-GI Day!
Thank our military by grabbing and squeezing one!  March Forth! is a military order so that may be why today was chosen for the celebration...

1930
Mrs. Charles Fahning of Buffalo, NY is recognized as the first women to bowl a perfect 300 game.  I'm usually happy to break 100...

Hot Springs Pool

Hot Springs Pool in Glenwood Springs, CO

For early March, it's been beautiful here in FoCo,
but there are still days when I can't get completely warm.
Last night, I was fantasizing about a good, long soak in the Hot Springs -
Ahhhh...  Wouldn't that feel great about now?!?!

Speaking of which, I think I need
to get out more if this is the best my fantasies can do...
Maybe I should go watch a Brad Pitt movie :-)

JOINING NUDIST COLONY!

The L is supposed to be the British pound sign.
Although I am sure there is a way to make it look right,
that is waayyy beyond my computer non-savvy know-how...

Reality Trumps Fiction

We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming - this week's Classified Ad's - to bring you breaking news from the Tribune...

It's rare, but I'm almost speechless.  Neither Tolkien or Herbert could make this stuff up!
